How the formula works

Bocconi regulations define GPA as the weighted arithmetic mean of all marks expressed out of 30, with course CPUs as weights; 30 cum laude counts as 31/30 and pass/fail activities are excluded. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with standard rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with standard rounding to 2 decimal places.

Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the Bocconi University config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: Bocconi states passed exams cannot be repeated, while failed exams must be retaken; failed-attempt GPA treatment and course-specific exam components are not safely represented as automatic replacement, so repeated-course handling is manual review.
