Truncating instead of rounding can be the difference between sitting just above or just below a scholarship threshold, so it is worth checking your own university's rule.
Because the point values differ. Four courses at the second-best grade give 3.50 at Abu Dhabi University (B+ = 3.5 points) but 3.70 at American University in Dubai (A- = 3.7 points). Identical performance, different numbers.
