This is the clearest argument against using one national formula. Take a student who earns their university's second-best grade in four courses— identical academic performance, on paper — and run it through each institution's own rules:

Same effort, same relative result, different number — because the scales, point values and rounding rules are set by each university rather than by Jordan. A calculator that ignores this gives most students the wrong figure.
