How the formula works

AUI calculates quality points by multiplying credits attempted by grade value. GPA is total quality points divided by credits attempted; CGPA uses all attempted credits and quality points accumulated at AUI. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with floor rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with floor rounding to 2 decimal places.

Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the Al Akhawayn University config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: If a course is repeated, the highest grade earned is used to compute CGPA for all purposes, and repeated courses are counted only once for credit.

Worked example

Suppose a student starts with 3.00 CGPA after 30 completed credits and takes these Al Akhawayn University courses:

  • Course 13 credits x A+ (4.00 points)
  • Course 23 credits x B+ (3.33 points)
  • Course 33 credits x C+ (2.33 points)

The semester GPA is 3.22 and the updated CGPA is 3.05 using this university's rounding rules.

FAQ

Does this calculator use a generic Morocco GPA formula?

No. This page uses the grading configuration for Al Akhawayn University. Another university in Morocco can have different grade points, rounding rules, or pass/fail handling.

How is semester GPA calculated at Al Akhawayn University?

The calculator multiplies each GPA-counted grade point by its credits, adds the quality points, divides by GPA-counted credits, and applies floor rounding to 2 decimal places.

Are pass/fail courses included in GPA?

Pass/fail grades marked as non-GPA in the Al Akhawayn University config are excluded from GPA points, although credit may still be earned when the grade allows it.

What about repeated courses?

If a course is repeated, the highest grade earned is used to compute CGPA for all purposes, and repeated courses are counted only once for credit.
