How the formula works

UPC academic regulations state marks are 0-10 in 0.1 intervals and academic records are weighted by multiplying each passed credit by the corresponding mark and dividing by total passed credits; credits without marks are excluded. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with standard rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with standard rounding to 2 decimal places.

Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: The official sources identify the grading scale and weighted academic-record calculation, but repeated/retaken subject treatment is conditional or not complete enough to automate safely.

Worked example

Suppose a student starts with 3.00 CGPA after 30 completed credits and takes these Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya courses:
