The scale uses plus and minus grades, so there are 12 distinct point values rather than a handful of whole steps: A+ is worth 4.0 and A is worth 3.89.

What gets left out of the average

IC, IP, W, DR, NG, and R carry no point value at University of Technology Bahrain, so a course marked with one of them drops out of the division entirely — it changes neither the top nor the bottom of the fraction.
