RMIT multiplies credit points or contact hours by grade point value, divides by total credit points/contact hours, and rounds GPA to one decimal point. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with standard rounding to 1 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with standard rounding to 1 decimal places.
Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the RMIT University config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: RMIT's public GPA page defines GPA weighting and exclusions but does not provide a general machine-calculable repeated-course replacement rule.
