GPA is calculated by multiplying course credits by grade points, summing those products, and dividing by total GPA course credits. McGill truncates GPA to two decimals without rounding up. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with floor rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with floor rounding to 2 decimal places.
Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the McGill University config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: McGill states all final grades are included in GPA when courses are repeated; D and F continue to be used in CGPA after repeating or supplemental examinations.
