The Faculty of Arts and Science defines GPA as the weighted sum of grade points earned divided by the number of credits in which grade points were earned. For semester GPA, each GPA-counted course is converted to quality points by multiplying grade points by credits. The semester GPA is the total quality points divided by total GPA-counted credits, then rounded with standard rounding to 2 decimal places. The updated CGPA combines the student's existing quality points with this semester's quality points, then rounds with standard rounding to 2 decimal places.
Pass/fail and non-GPA grades are handled from the University of Toronto config: supported pass grades are excluded from GPA points. Repeat-course handling uses this rule: University of Toronto repeat handling differs for failed courses, Extra designations, CR/NCR, and second-attempt-for-credit rules, so repeated courses require manual review.
